EXO - Overdose Music Video and Album Opinion

I know it's November already, and this comeback was like half a year ago, BUT since it's not a "review", just my opinion on it, I think it's alrighty. :3

The Title Song

I was having mixed feelings with this songs. I first thought that it's going to be some kind of sloppy song about love, and how it kills you, bla bla. Funny thing that it is. BUT, I really like it's style, and the lyrics are not so bad. This was my second EXO song that I listened to until the end, and this was also the one that made me officially love this band. <3 Hella catchy, gotta admit it. Baekhyun's and Chen's highnote parts were my favourite, after that comes Chanyeol's rap part. His rapping just doesn't match with is baby wolf face. xD But yeah, he's the best rapper in EXO in my opinion, even though he auditioned as a vocalist. ( I think...) The song was nicely distributed, however I want more Sehun and Kai parts. >.< I don't care if they can't sing, at least two lines instead of one.

The Music Video

I hate box sets, but this one was fun. Liked the maze symbole - basically everywhere - and the fading in and out effects were pleasing to the eye ,unlike in GG's Mr.Mr... SM, sometimes (sadly most of the time) you suck. Their outfits on the other hand... seriously what the heck. They don't even go with the concept, the stage outfits and the ones in the photoshoots are way better. What are those baggy shirts supposed to mean? You are too addicted to your love that you can't buy anything so you have to dig up local trash cans to find this stuff? OR maybe SM is keeping the money for TTS comeback and you guys are only having the practice outfits? Why? And those hats, oh my Lord, save me. Kris and Baekhyun looked like effin' kidnappers out late night hunting for children. What happened to their luxurious hair? :'(

The Dance

This.dance.is.awesome. Specially during the chorus part. It actually feels like the dance represents their feelings toward the girl. Khm, I like to give names to some parts : the " I gotta call up my mama while jumping with both of my legs outwards and still looking hot" is my fave. Then there's Sehun's "come at me bro" when he raps, and Chen's and Lay's "turn up the lights with ma' supapowers" was great too. Really love that wave in the end, where the K and M members dance separately in a line, and OMG Tao's flip is incredible. But best move this time goes to Kai oppa. You know wich part I'm talking about, when he does this thing : 

Oh, not to mention the "banging on eachother's heads" are so great as well, they are so in sync, it's amusing to watch.

The Album

Wow, such a great album. The songs are really different, they all have their own feel to them. Because sometimes with k-pop I have the impression that in an album the songs are so... similar. Too similar. And it makes it boring and just meh. But I'm still listening to Overdose and didn't get bored of it, wich is very suprising, cause I switch favourite songs every week. I'm in love with Moonlight, it is the best song in k-pop this year. Sorry not sorry. Love, love, love it. (see what I did there?) Thunder is what I sing in the shower every morning. Run is really cute, can't think anything else of it. xD It has that happy, but not too hyper "I'm gonna go camping today" vibe.

Overall I give the whole comeback an eight. I like the songs, the music video, live performances, but the drama that also came with it just ruined it to be the best comeback of this year for me. (talking about Kris' lawsuit and Baekhyun dating news. I support both of them. And Luhan as well. I wouldn't stay in SM either.)

Girl's Generation-TTS - Holler Music Video and Album Review

 
Finally, after the long wait (at least for me) TTS a.k.a queens of k-pop are back with their second mini album : Holler. I was so ready for this comeback and I wasn't left disappointed in the end! ;) It's better in my opinion, than Mr. Mr. album.

The Song

For my first listening, I found it really catchy and fun, wich is the main reason I like k-pop. The chorus is the only part I can sing along to, and honestly I think it's going to remain this way, because although the whole thing is really addictive, it didn't do it for me in the end. It's a great song, but I guess I expected too much and it didn't live up to that. Still, can't say I don't like it. Having mixed feelings, really. xD My favourite part has to be Taeyeon's high note line. And Holly Molly, Seohyun sounds A-M-A-Z-I-NG. Tiffany's last verse kind of scared me. It was a little bit painful to hear. Her voice was totally okay throughout the song, it's just the ending that went wrong for me.

Oh, and if you didn't know : SM bought the song. Not like it's a big problem, they had done it before. I just imagined that the company likes and respects TaeTiSeo to the point where it wouldn't be a question if they deserve an own song, composed specially for them as a title song. *sigh*

The Music Video

Now, for the video, it went the opposite way. First sight : too bright, typical SM "just posing around girl group" vibe to it. Second watch : "Oh wait, so it's a hotel." But... still doesn't make sense for me. But since I like to observe MVs over and over again, for some strange strange reason, I love it now. It's not cheap looking at all. The sets are not really creative (specially elevator Hoot-like scene and the jamming on the table one) however, the girls slayed it. In Twinkle, I strongly felt that Taeny outshined Seohyun, like, a lot. Up until this MV I genuinely thought that TTS was formed just so SM can feed Locksmiths and Tiffany biased people (even Tiffany said so, that the sub-unit was inspired by Taeyeon's and Tiffany's "Lady Marmalade" performance) But here, for me Seohyun stood out the most. Yes, she had less screen time and lines, but OH MY GOD she was really good. She's definitely a bias list ruiner. Our maknae has officially grown into a mature, beautiful, confident and talented artist. ^_^ Taeyeon was also really energetic - in the live performances as well - wich I was so happy for, kinda worried back there about the whole Baekyeon thing  pulling her down, but I guess I needn't have worried. She looked like she wanted to be there, performing, singing, taking part in it all. And she was gorgeous, just like the SM Staff approved it. :P And for Tiffany, she's at the Fany level as always. I personally like to think of her as TTS's visual (I know such thing doesn't exist, just my fantasy) she brings so much into this sub-unit. Her happy vibe and aura is unbelievable.

The Dance

Now, this is something that I rarely complain about when it comes to GG. This dance is simple, yet sexy (not the show-off kind) and fits with the song really well. But I'm kind of worried what would happen it they didn't lip-schync... because there are "jumpy" and fast parts, wich I find hard to sing along to. Specially Adrenaline's dance.


The Album

Gotta say, I like it more than Twinkle album. Sure, Holler didn't do it for me, but the other songs on the album make up for it completely. Favourites are Whisper and Adrenaline (thorn between the two), btw speaking of Adrenalie, SM : "WHY U NO MAKE THAT TITTLE SONG?" It is perfection. Don't care if people say it's "too sexy for TTS". They're 25 for God's sake... and it's not slutty. Sure, those red-white costumes were a little revealing for SNSD's style, but they are nowhere near trashy. I honestly would like to see them performing Adrenaline with black leggings and plain, white shirts and you know what? It'd still be hot... because they are charismatic and can make it attractive.

My liking order of the songs in the album :
1. Whisper & Adrenaline
2.Only U
3. Stay
4. Holler
5. Eyes

For the whole comeback I will give a 7,5 out of 10. FYI, my rating system is really strict, cuz why not... so everything above 5 is great. :D

Btw, my absolute favourite thing was Taeyeon's long blonde hair (it's back yaaay) it suits her more I believe than Jessica. When I saw it I was like :
